Open Your Eyes


It’s funny how often I return from a walk with my camera and see things in the images as I’m processing them that I totally missed as I was taking the shot. I can understand missing a bit of spider’s web but how could I miss this lady bug? All I remember about the shot was the heat, the humidity, the sun (which was bleachingly strong) and hoping I could get this shot of the underneath side of the Queen Anne’s Lace without getting too many chiggers from kneeling in the pasture grass.

I got the shot. And when I got home, I got surprised by a jewel I’d missed in the moment.

And I find myself wondering how many more I’ve missed because I wasn’t looking. Correction- because I wasn’t seeing
