Day 3: Hauntings

You may, perhaps, recognize the similarity between this illustration and the photograph used in the banner of my webpage. I’ve also used the photograph on my business cards. If I had to pick one photo, one image, that had possessed me since my visit to Ireland in 2007, this would be it. And, of course, I wonder why that is. What is it about this particular Camaderry & evening on the Lower Lake, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.image?

Any response I could give would be complex and entangled. Working with this image this morning reminds me of the notions around “place making” that I have found myself engaged with in my research. What is place? How is it made and how does it, in turn, shape us?

It also reminds me that any sense of se365, Day 3, Perspectivelf we might think we possess is also constructed, always partial, always situated. We, I, exist in the story, in the articulations. In relationship. Where am I in this landscape? Did I touch it at all? Or do hauntings only work one way…?
