365, Day 15: Theme & Variations

365, Day 15

I love this piece…I love it more in person than I do in its digital iteration at this point that can’t be helped. It occurred to me, as I painted it and as I look at it now, that there are so many similarities in miniature, macro-scale landscapes and landscapes “writ large”. As I painted, I went back and forth. Is it a close up? Another version of the mossy stream bank? Or is it a tree and grass-clad hillside seen more from a distance?

I’m still going back and forth. And I think that’s kind of fun.

This was also, by the way, the morning I remembered that the brushes have an “edge” as well as a pointed end and I remembered to use it!
