365, Day 69: Far Distant Shore

365, Day 69

Sometimes I feel as much of a follow as a lead in this artistic dance of creativity. I sit down with a paintbrush in my hand and before I know it, the painting is leading me off in a direction I would never have gone on my own. That’s the whole thing about just showing up and being open, of listening  and of sharing, of trusting both the process in general and my own intuitions.

This bit of verse from Oksana Rus seems to capture this morning’s session.

“Just take my hand, lead, dance with me…and I will simply follow the blueness of the water, the white waves rolling free…where the earth beneath my feet and stars make my heart whole again…in long and priceless moments of shared solitude…”~ Oksana Rus

Who’s leading here and who’s following? And in the grand scheme of things, does it matter?

About Karen

I am a fifty-something anthropology student, an artist, dancer, photographer, healer, mother, grandmother and perennial seeker. I am distracted by shiny things and infused with a sense of wonder at the world around me and people in general. I am a “journey” person who often wishes that I could have a “destination” day at least every now and then…
